Sony Playstation 3 is the most sought after console in the market
today. The demand is so heavy that there is a short supply of the item,
preordering the Sony Playstation 3 is the solution. With a preorder you may be able to get
the PS3 at least in time for your child's next birthday.
The question is why is the Sony Playstation 3 in such great demand?
The reason is very logical. The original Sony Playstation was an instant success.
It remained at the top of the console market until the Sony Playstation 2 was
introduced. The Sony Playstation 2 too remained on top of the demand table
until the launch of the newest version, Sony Playstation 3. So far, no other
console was able to match the performance of Sony's Playstation 3. According
to most of the dealers, the supply will not meet the demand at least until the
spring 2007. So you will have to wait until you get one or preorder so that
you will get it as soon as those who had preordered before you had got it.
If you go online you will be surprised at the
demand. Of at least fifty sites that sell Sony Playstation 3, only three said
that it is available. All the other sites said not available. Of the three that
said Sony Playstation 3 is available and when I went in to one of them the reply
displayed was "We're sorry, but there are no products in this category."
The Sony Playstation 3 is available in two versions - the 20GB
and the 60GB. Both Sony Playstation 3's feature the brand new Cell processor,
a built-in Blu-ray player, and HDMI video output. The 20GB version retails at
a lesser price than the 60GB. The 60GB Sony Playstation 3 has a hard drive,
built-in Wi-Fi, a multi-format memory card reader, and silver trim. Even though
the Sony Playstation 3 is expensive it is quite impressive.
Sony Playstation 3 like the competitors - Xbox 360 and Nintendo
Wii, can be placed vertically or kept horizontal in an A/V rack. No other component
or electronic items could be placed on its top due to the curved design on top.
As for its dimensions, the Sony Playstation 3 measures 32.5 centimeters
in width, 9.8 centimeters in height and 24.7 centimeters in breadth. This is
approximately equal to the overall volume of the Xbox 360. The Sony Playstation
3 weighs about 5kgs. The most remarkable feature in a Sony Playstation
3 is that there are no external power supply boxes. All you have to do is just
plug the included power cable into the back of the unit and you can start playing.
Comparing this with Xbox 360, you have to struggle with its massive brick of
a power supply. This is indeed a remarkable feat on Sony's part.
In the Playstation 3 around the back of the unit is where you will find ports
for Ethernet, HDMI output, optical digital audio output (SPDIF), and the proprietary
Playstation A/V output for analog audio and video. A composite A/V cable comes
as a standard accessory with the unit. However, the non availability of at least
a single USB port in the back of the console is the only drawback in the Playstation 3.
